The light laserbrasion is a unique, inexpensive laser treatment, which uses the Erbium:YAG laser to rejuvenate and to resurface the skin. The Erbium:YAG laser is excellent for deeper treatment of sun damaged skin, facial wrinkles, superficial pigmentation (melasma and other brown spots), as well as scars. The laser treats the sun damaged and older, thicker skin on the surface and stimulates the collagen layers to rebuild new, tighter skin. The Erbium:YAG has a shorter healing time and fewer problems with prolonged redness and skin pigmentation changes when compared to many other lasers.

The light laserbrasion uses the Erbium:YAG laser to laser the skin lightly, providing a deeper and much more effective treatment than routine acid peels or "facials," but allowing the return to normal activities quickly. The light laserbrasion treatments are designed to rejuvenate the skin and to remove much of the superficial sun damaged areas

The results are superior in terms of rejuvenation of the skin, but the light laserbrasion will not remove deep wrinkles, scars, or deep discolored areas. The light laserbrasion, especially with several treatments, will remove many of the fine lines of the eyes, forehead, and mouth. It will also remove most "sun freckles" and smooth out many of the "blotches" in the skin from sun damage.

Some individuals might be better treated with a series of treatments with the new IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) technology using the Palomar MediLux or Starlux systems. Please review other areas of this web site.

To remove deeper wrinkles, acne scars, scars, and discoloration, Dr. Taylor uses the same Erbium:YAG laser to perform a deeper level of treatment, and the healing time is not as short as with the light laserbrasion.

The healing time for the light laserbrasion is from 3-7 days and allows an individual to return to work or other activities within 1-3 days using makeup. The treatments give the appearance of a deep sunburn, which usually can be covered with makeup after 1-3 days. After the skin heals in a few days the redness normally subsides very quickly, leaving a healthier and rejuvenated skin.

Although a significant change in the skin texture and appearance can be obtained with just one treatment, since the laser treatments are done very lightly, it frequently takes several treatments, done between 4-16 weeks apart, to obtain maximum benefit. The best results and healing are obtained when the treatments are combined with an appropriate regular skin care program. The results are long lasting. "Peels" and other skin treatments on a regular basis will help the skin in many ways, but can not change some of the deeper layers of skin on a long term basis.

The laser treatments take approximately one hour, and there is minimal discomfort. For a small additional fee a topical anesthetic can be used, if arrangements are made prior to the treatments.
