Laser skin resurfacing is an exciting medical use of lasers by Dr. Taylor, which helps to correct or to change the effects of the sun, time, and disease. Lasers and Dr. Taylors experience in the treatment of the skin with lasers, provide a level of control and effectiveness that is difficult to achieve with many skin rejuvenation techniques or chemicals applied to the skin. As we go through life our skin is exposed to numerous
experiences that vary from childhood chicken pox to acne to chronic
The laser resurfacing treatments are different and are usually associated with more discoloration and "down time" before final healing than what occurs with the IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) treatments. IPL treatments are described in other areas of this web site. Dr. Taylor can help an individual decide whether an IPL or laser treatment will be used to treat the skin.
The laser resurfacing treatment can usually be done in the office with a local anesthetic, unless large areas are treated. After the skin is cleaned and anesthetized, the areas are treated with the laser to remove the outer layers of skin and to smooth down rough areas or scars. Immediately following treatment a special dressing or topical ointment is usually applied. In the first few days following treatment, your skin will have open areas, similar to a scraped knee, while new skin is being formed. There may be some crusting. Thick ointments are applied for the first few days.
Prices vary as to the size and location of the area treated. Multiple treatments might be necessary. Most areas, such as around the mouth, can be treated for a surgical fee of approximately $950-1,200.00., while large areas cost $1,500. to $2,400. Additional fees are required for anesthetics and hospital treatments. Call 210-490-1757 for an appointment.
