  • Before You BOTOX®

When considering anti-aging or any type of cosmetic procedure, it is critical that you do your research ahead of time to know what to expect, and what complications may arise. In April 2002, BOTOX® was approved by the FDA and has been proven to be safe and effective in minimizing the appearance of fine lines, creases, and wrinkles.  While serious side effects and complications are rare, cases of such are still documented from time to time and it is important to understand the risks before proceeding.

Mild side effects after your procedure are common and include:

    • Slight bruising at injection site
    • Headache
    • Respiratory infections
    • Nausea
    • Flu-like symptoms
    • Anxiety
    • Dry Mouth
    • Sensitivity to light

Please seek medical attention immediately if any of the following severe side effects occur during or after your BOTOX® procedure:

    • Severe allergic reaction (rashes, hives, swelling)
    • Bleeding at injection site
    • Difficulty swallowing or breathing
    • Paralysis
    • Temporary eyelid droop
    • Irregular heartbeat
    • Loss of bladder control
    • Muscle weakness
    • Dizziness
    • Speech irregularities
    • Seizures

Of course, this is not a comprehensive list of side-effects, as there may be others that have not been reported. Please consult your doctor for medical advice before your BOTOX® procedure.
