  • Hyperhydrosis Treatment

    Video transcription

Cherie: So the injection procedure for Botox is for patients with moderate
to severe ancillary hyperhydrosis that is inadequately managed with the
    topical agents.

Patients should shave the underarm and abstain from over-the-counter
deodorants or antiperspirants for 24 hours prior to the treatment ideally.
Patient should be resting comfortably without exercise, hot drinks for at
least 30 minutes prior to the procedure.

What you want to do is alcohol the area first. And what we’re going to do
is just apply the Betadine; just cover the entire area of the axila. Then
you just kind of allow the Betadine to dry. You can fan it; it will speed
    things up a little bit.

And while I’m letting that kind of air dry I’m going to talk about the
reconstitution of the Botox. For the treatment of hyperhidrosis you’re
going to use 0.9 percent normal saline, the preservative free, and the
Botox cosmetic is the 100 units. The reconstitution is going to be 4 cc. of
the normal saline in 100 units of the Botox vial.

You’re going to use 50 units on each underarm. It should be two syringes,
because the reconstitution is going to be 2.5 units per 0.1 cc. which is 25
units total per cc. So we’re going to use two syringes at 25 units per
syringe on each underarm. So you’re going to be using the entire 100 units
    for the hyperhydrosis treatment.
