Body Contouring

Can Body Contouring Help with Post-Pregnancy Weight Loss?

Having a baby can be one of the most exciting times in life – but it can also be one of the hardest times for your body. After giving birth, many moms are faced with a whole host of challenges when trying to get back to their post-pregnancy bodies. If you’re struggling with this, you’re not alone—and we have good news.

New advancements in body contouring technology could be just what you need to help jumpstart your journey back to feeling like yourself again. While body contouring procedures are not technically weight loss treatments, they can help you reduce fat, tighten loose skin and more! It’s time to reclaim your pre-baby body on your own terms.

First of all—if you just had a baby, you deserve a medal. The challenges and stress that pregnancy and childbirth place on the body are enough to make anyone want to take a three month nap instead of hitting the gym.

Second of all—for many people, post-partum or not, diet and exercise alone are not enough to tackle certain stubborn areas like the abdomen, inner thighs and “love handles”. That’s where body contouring comes in. We offer non-invasive, non-surgical aesthetic treatments that result in targeted fat reduction and tighter, smoother skin after just a few treatments.

CoolSculpting directly targets stubborn fat and sculpts your body by permanently freezing away unwanted fat cells, leaving you with the look you want. Best of all, it’s safe and FDA-cleared.

How does CoolSculpting work?
CoolSculpting freezes and kills fat cells by targeting your subcutaneous (“pinchable”) fat, reducing fat cells and actually reshaping your body in the areas you choose to target. Years and years were spent developing and refining this process, which is called cryolipolysis.

What’s a CoolSculpting treatment like?
All in, CoolSculpting can take as little as 35 minutes. The applicator will be placed on the treatment area, and you will feel a sucking sensation as it attaches to your body. This will be immediately followed by a signature cooling effect. During CoolSculpting, you might experience different sensations of pulling, pinching, intense cold, tingling, stinging, aching and cramping. Following treatment, you might experience typical side effects such as redness, swelling, bruising, tingling, stinging, cramping or tenderness. Once the applicator is removed from your body, you will be given a massage to break up the fat cells and encourage fat reduction.

Does it actually work?
Yes, it does! With CoolSculpting, patients experience up to 25% fat reduction per treatment in the area being treated!

Although Thermage isn’t technically a body contouring treatment, it’s a great way to deal with skin tightening post-baby. One of the best things about Thermage is that you can customize it to suit your needs. It works wonders practically anywhere, but is particularly effective on the eyes, face and body.

How does Thermage work?
Thermage works by using radio-frequency technology to heat the deeper, collagen-rich layers of the skin, causing collagen to contract and gradually reform. All this leads to smoother, tighter skin after just one treatment, with results that continue to improve! And because the outer layers of the skin are unaffected, there’s almost zero downtime.

What’s a Thermage treatment like?
Thermage can take anywhere from 45-90 minutes or more, depending on the size of the area being treated. First, your clinician will apply a “grid” to the area being treated to ensure that it’s thoroughly targeted. Then, they’ll begin the treatment, using the device to create radiofrequency pulses against your skin. The pulses only last a few seconds, and your clinician will be monitoring the intensity to maintain your comfort level. The device also has an integrated cooling system that cools your skin’s surface for increased comfort. Does it hurt? Because Thermage uses heat to stimulate collagen in the deepest layers of your skin, it’s slightly more uncomfortable than treatments that deliver heat to superficial layers of the skin, such as our IPL or Fire + Ice facials. One of our specialists will walk you through how to prepare for this treatment during your consultation.

Does it actually work?
Yes, it definitely does! Results vary from person to person, but most patients experience meaningful results anywhere from two to six months post-treatment.
