What To Do After Your Laser Hair Removal Treatment

FOR 24 HOURS AFTER YOUR TREATMENT…

  • Avoid direct heat and sweat— including steam rooms, saunas, and exercising.
  • Avoid tight, restrictive garments over the treated area(s). Wear loose fitting clothes.

FOR AT LEAST THREE DAYS AFTER YOUR TREATMENT…

  • Avoid direct sun exposure and tanning beds.
  • Apply sunscreen SPF 30+ daily, and wear barrier protection such as wide-brimmed hats, large sunglasses and breathable protective clothing when outdoors.
  • Avoid topical irritants— these potentially include harsh soaps, medicated washes, scrubs, oils, retinols, scented lotions and peels.
  • Avoid hot baths / showers, as well as swimming (in any temperature). When bathing, use cool water and gentle soap; pat skin dry with a clean, soft towel.
  • Avoid scrubbing, scratching or shaving.
  • Moisturize with over-the-counter hydrocortisone 1% mixed with either Vaseline® or Aquaphor®, up to three times daily or as needed to help reduce irritation or itching.

UNTIL YOUR NEXT TREATMENT…

  • Avoid all other methods of hair removal in the treatment area EXCEPT shaving; these include tweezing, waxing, hair removal creams or chemicals, threading, and electrolysis.
  • Avoid bleaching the hair in the treatment area.

What To Expect From your Results

Laser Hair Removal is a process, with a series of treatments strategically spaced out in order to capture each growth phase of the hair cycle. While the experience is unique for every patient, here's (generally) what you can expect along the way…

IMMEDIATELY AFTER

IMMEDIATELY AFTER

  • Potential redness, swelling, itching (normal!)
  • Hair reduction will not be visible just yet
72 HOURS AFTER

72 HOURS AFTER

  • Side effects subside and skin appears as it did before treatment
  • Targeted hair remains in the follicle and appears to grow out as normal
  • Continue to shave as needed
1 - 3 WEEKS AFTER

1 - 3 WEEKS AFTER

  • Targeted hair reaches the surface of the skin and falls out
  • Remaining hair growth appears patchy and less dense
  • Maximum results from this session are achieved
4-6 WEEKS AFTER

4-6 WEEKS AFTER

  • New hair growth is observed
  • Skin is healed and you’re due for your next treatment!
  • We recommend this treatment approximately every 4-6 weeks, depending on the area, to achieve and maintain optimal results

WITH EACH SUBSEQUENT TREATMENT

  • A portion of the remaining hairs are targeted as they enter a new active phase
  • More hair follicles are permanently reduced and hair density gradually thins out
  • Hair becomes lighter and finer, thus shaving is easier and less irritating to the skin
  • Skin feels smoother, softer and more youthful

What To Do If You Experience These Common Side Effects…

  • Avoid direct heat, tight clothing, and activities that cause you to sweat. When bathing use cool water and gentle soap.
  • Avoid picking or scratching the area.
  • May take oral Benadryl®, Allegra® or Claritin® (antihistamines available over-the-counter, liquid version preferred) as needed.
