My experience with LaserAway has been one of the most frustrating customer-service experiences I’ve ever had. I paid for my treatments up front with a debit card, and after a year of trying to get the situation addressed, I still felt like I was being ignored and pushed around. When I originally signed up, I was told that the treatments would help with my keratosis pilaris (“strawberry skin”) on my legs and arms. I relied on what I was told when making the purchase. However, by my fourth treatment, I was told that laser does not really address peach fuzz in the way I had understood from the sales process. I asked the nurse, essentially, “So are you telling me that what I was sold isn’t actually going to work for my body?” Her response was that she couldn’t comment. That was extremely disappointing. To make matters worse, during one of my treatments, my tattoo was burned and damaged. After that happened, I asked about getting my money back because I was understandably concerned about the injury and the service I had received. I had only used 3 of the 8 treatments I had purchased. The manager at the Elk Grove location was extremely rude to me and made a comment along the lines of questioning how I could expect a refund after already receiving three treatments. I was disappointed, but I continued trying to resolve the issue professionally. I called and emailed repeatedly — around 20 times — and could not get meaningful help from the corporate office. I was eventually left feeling like nobody wanted to take responsibility for resolving the issue. Almost 10 months later, because I had already paid for the treatments and felt I had no other option, I went back to try to use what I had purchased. The experience when I returned was incredibly uncomfortable. The staff clearly knew who I was, but I wasn’t even properly greeted, and the entire interaction felt hostile and awkward. I was then told that my account had been disconnected. When I went back and asked about receiving a treatment that I had already paid for, the assistant manager told me that it wasn’t something I “needed” — it was something they were doing me a favor by providing, and that it was up to them whether they wanted to do it. I explained that I wasn’t asking for a favor. I had already paid for the service. At that point, I simply asked for help printing my account details so I could see exactly what treatments I had used and what I had remaining. The assistant manager refused to help me. When I became frustrated and said I wanted my money back, I was accused of being rude and was told to leave the office. I found the entire interaction incredibly disrespectful. I contacted corporate again. I was told the situation would be investigated. Eventually, I was told that the assistant manager and front-office staff claimed I was rude, which was supposedly why I was asked to leave. So instead of addressing my concerns about a service I paid for, the damaged tattoo, the lack of results, the conflicting information I received, and the unresolved account, the focus became my reaction to being treated poorly. This entire experience has left me feeling that the company cared far more about keeping my money than resolving my concerns as a customer. My biggest advice: do not let a sales representative make promises about results without getting exactly what is being promised in writing. Ask specifically what the treatment can and cannot address, what happens if you don’t see the expected results, and what your options are if you experience an adverse reaction or damage. For me, the combination of the lack of results, damage to my tattoo, conflicting information about what laser could actually treat, difficulty getting anyone to address my concerns, and the way I was treated at the Elk Grove location completely destroyed my trust in LaserAway. I would not recommend this experience to anyone. Please save your money and do your research before signing up.
