RF Microneedling

How Long After Microneedling Can I Wear Makeup?

After SkinPen® microneedling, you should avoid wearing makeup on the treated area for 24 hours. Your skin needs this initial recovery period following treatment, and keeping the area makeup-free helps you follow proper post-treatment care while your skin begins its natural healing process.

During those first 24 hours, you should also avoid direct heat and activities that make you sweat, including exercise, saunas, and steam rooms. For at least three days, avoid potentially irritating skincare products, hot baths and showers, swimming, scrubbing, scratching, and shaving the treated area.

Once the initial 24-hour period has passed, you can resume wearing makeup, but continue following your LaserAway clinician's aftercare instructions as your skin heals.

Can I Wear Makeup 24 Hours After Microneedling?

Yes. LaserAway's SkinPen® aftercare instructions recommend avoiding makeup on the treated area for 24 hours following treatment. After that initial period, you can resume wearing makeup while continuing to follow the rest of your post-treatment care instructions.

What Happens If I Wear Makeup Too Soon After Microneedling?

Your skin may be red, swollen, or sensitive immediately after microneedling, so it's important to give it time to recover. LaserAway recommends keeping makeup off the treated area for the first 24 hours and following all aftercare instructions to support the healing process.

How Long Does Redness Last After Microneedling?

Mild to moderate redness, swelling, and sensitivity are normal immediately after SkinPen® microneedling. These effects typically begin to subside within the first 24 hours, although everyone's treatment experience and recovery can be different.

What Should I Avoid for the First 24 Hours After Microneedling?

For the first 24 hours after SkinPen® microneedling, avoid makeup on the treated area as well as direct heat and activities that cause sweating. That includes exercise, steam rooms, and saunas.

What Should I Avoid for Three Days After Microneedling?

For at least three days, avoid potential topical irritants such as harsh soaps, medicated washes, scrubs, oils, retinols, scented lotions, and peels. You should also avoid hot baths or showers, swimming, and scrubbing, scratching, or shaving the treated area.
