  • Reduce excessive underarm sweating (hyperhidrosis)
  • Deliver results within days

All Botox® treatments at LaserAway are performed by licensed medical professionals using personalized, medically guided techniques. Xeomin® is also available as an alternative neuromodulator and may be recommended based on your goals.

Your Botox Journey, Start to Finish

Your complete guide to how Botox works, how to prepare, and what to expect.

Your Botox Appointment

Your Botox visit takes about 30 minutes, with the injections themselves completed in just a few minutes.

Your clinician will map out your facial movement and have you frown, raise your brows, smile, or pucker to place six to eight targeted injections that match your treatment goals. This approach ensures even, natural-looking results.

After your appointment, you may see mild redness or tenderness for a few hours, which is common and fades quickly.

For hyperhidrosis, your clinician will map out evenly spaced injection points on the underarm area.

How to Prepare for Botox

Simple preparation helps ensure the best results.

Before treatment:

  • Avoid alcohol for 24 hours to reduce bruising
  • Skip caffeine on the day of treatment
  • Eat a balanced meal beforehand
  • Arrive with clean skin, free of makeup, and lotion. If being treated for hyperhidrosis, please also avoid deodorant.

Your clinician will review full pre- and post-care instructions during your visit.

How Botox Works

Botox Cosmetic by Allergan® works by targeting the tiny nerve signals that cause facial muscles to contract. Once injected, it blocks the release of acetylcholine, which prevents those muscles from tightening. When the muscle activity settles, the skin above it becomes smoother and lines soften.

The outcome is a refreshed, natural appearance that keeps your expressions intact while reducing visible creases.

When used to treat hyperhidrosis, Botox blocks the presynaptic release of acetylcholine at the injection site. When this signal is inhibited, the treated sweat glands remain inactive, reducing perspiration in that specific area.

Common Questions

  • What is Botox made of?

Botox is a protein made from something called "botulinum toxin". It's technically a neurotoxin, but when it's used correctly and in small doses by experienced professionals, it has a number of medical and cosmetic uses.

  • How much is Botox?

Your Botox treatment plan will be customized to your personal goals and the areas being targeted, and pricing varies based on this. We can discuss specific pricing, as well as our payment plan options, during your free consultation.

  • What's the difference between Botox and Xeomin?

Botox and Xeomin are actually very similar! Both use botulinum toxin to relax the underlying muscles that cause wrinkles. While they both relax the underlying muscles that cause wrinkles, Xeomin tends to be more affordable than Botox.

  • What's the difference between Botox and Dermal Fillers?

Botox and dermal fillers are two of the most widely used cosmetic treatments that help reduce wrinkles and fine lines. Botox is an injectable made from botulinum toxin A that temporarily relaxes facial muscles to reduce wrinkles and fine lines caused by dynamic wrinkles. Dermal fillers like Juvéderm help restore shape and volume to areas of the face while reducing the appearance of static wrinkles with hyaluronic acid. To address static and dynamic wrinkles at the same time, you can even get Botox and Juvéderm together during a single treatment session.

  • Does Botox hurt?

It's just a few seconds of mild discomfort in exchange for a wrinkle-free lifestyle. We use a small 32-gage needle, so you'll feel a slight pinprick, nothing more. Numbing cream is not necessary for this treatment, but we do offer ice packs upon request.

  • How long does Botox last?

You'll start seeing results within three to seven days, and they'll reach their peak effectiveness in about two weeks. After that two week mark, the strength of the Botox will gradually become less intense. In about two to four months, it'll be time for another treatment.

  • When will I see results?

Results typically begin to appear within a few days and continue to improve over one to two weeks.

  • Is Botox safe?

Botox is safe and FDA-approved to prevent and reduce the appearance of wrinkles, and is the #1 treatment of its kind!

  • Is there anyone who shouldn't get Botox?

Botox can be effective for anyone ages 18-60 to treat or prevent wrinkles. However, you should avoid Botox if you have allergies to bovine products, are pregnant or breastfeeding, or are living with a neurological disorder. Also, please make sure you've read our complete pre-care and post-care instructions for full details on what to expect!

  • Will I experience any side effects with Botox?

Common side effects of Botox include temporary bruising and mild headaches. For a complete list of side effects and how to treat them, please review our after-care instructions.

  • Is there anything I should avoid doing after Botox?

Unlike more invasive surgical procedures, Botox has basically no downtime so you can get back to your daily life right away. However, there are a few things you should avoid right after your treatment—please consult our post-care instructions for the complete list!
