CoolSculpting can reduce stubborn fat under the chin by targeting and freezing subcutaneous fat cells. It is designed for contouring, so the goal is improvement in the appearance of fullness under the chin, not perfection.

CoolSculpting is a non-invasive treatment designed to selectively target fat cells while sparing surrounding tissue. As with any aesthetic treatment, candidacy matters, and your clinician will assess the area and review your medical history before treatment.

The cost of CoolSculpting for the chin depends on your treatment plan, including how many applicators or rounds are needed to address the area. The best way to get accurate pricing is through a consultation, where your provider can assess your goals and build a personalized plan.

CoolSculpting uses controlled cooling to target fat cells beneath the skin. Those fat cells are gradually broken down and cleared by the body over time, which helps slim and contour the under-chin area.

During treatment, the applicator is placed on the under-chin area to deliver controlled cooling. You may feel pulling, tugging, mild pinching, intense cold, tingling, stinging, aching, or cramping at first, but the area usually becomes numb within a few minutes. After treatment, the area is massaged for two minutes.

Treatment time can vary based on your plan and how many applicators are used, but your provider will review the full timing during your consultation and again before treatment begins.

Most patients describe the treatment as tolerable. The first few minutes are usually the most noticeable because of the cold and suction sensation, but the area typically numbs as treatment continues. Afterward, temporary tenderness, tingling, numbness, or sensitivity can happen.

Results do not appear overnight. Fat cells start dying within a few days, many patients begin noticing changes around 3 weeks, and full results are typically seen around 3 months after treatment.

Once treated fat cells are eliminated, they are gone for good. That said, remaining fat cells can still expand with weight gain, so maintaining your results comes down to keeping a stable lifestyle.

The number of treatments depends on how much fullness is present and your contouring goals. More than one round is often needed for optimal results, and the same area may be treated again after the required spacing period if your clinician recommends it.

CoolSculpting is intended to reduce fat in the treated area, not simply shrink it temporarily. A treated area may see about a 20% to 25% reduction of fat cells within the applicator zone after a treatment cycle.

Right after treatment, it is normal to have redness, swelling, tenderness, tingling, itching, skin sensitivity, or numbness in the area. Some of these effects can last for several days, and numbness may last longer in some patients.

Swelling varies from person to person. Some patients have mild swelling that settles fairly quickly, while others may notice lingering puffiness, tenderness, or numbness for longer. Your clinician will review what is normal for recovery before you leave.

After treatment, avoid temperature extremes like saunas, hot showers, cold baths, or ice packs. Gentle massage may help with discomfort, and most patients can return to normal activity based on comfort.
